Why You Should Skip Alcohol on Your Summer Flight 🥃

Are you heading on vacation this summer? A new study recommends avoiding alcohol on your flight due to significant health risks.

The study suggests that the combination of alcohol and cabin pressure at cruising altitude may pose a threat to the heart health of sleeping passengers, especially on long-haul flights.

Key Points

It was found that consuming alcohol combined with the reduced cabin pressure at cruising altitude led to a significant drop in oxygen saturation levels, averaging 85% (normal levels are above 94%) during sleep. This reduction prompted an increase in heart rate as a compensatory response.

These effects were notably less severe in passengers who refrained from drinking alcohol.
